October is here, which means so is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! This month is all about increasing awareness of the disease and raising funds for breast cancer research. Breast Cancer is a disease in which cells in the breast grow out of control. It is one of the most common cancers among women as this disease affects about 264,000 women in the United States every year. Due to the disease’s prevalence, it is vital that we take the necessary steps to protect ourselves as best as possible from breast cancer. One way we can do this is through pre-screening. Breast cancer screening involves examining for any signs or symptoms of breast cancer in a woman’s breasts. There are a few different screening exams such as mammograms, MRIs, and clinical breast exams. While screening cannot prevent breast cancer, it can help us find out about the disease earlier. This allows an easier and likely more productive treatment plan. Bonday encourages all women to get screened and to be proactive about their health. Bonday will be participating in raising awareness for breast cancer through a few events and activities this month. Our first event will be Breakfast & Learn on October 27th with Dr. — and breast cancer survivor, —. Everyone is welcome to join us in-store to enjoy breakfast and educate themselves on this disease and its impact by listening to our guest speakers. At the end of the month, Bonday will also be showing our support to those currently fighting the battle against breast cancer. On October 30th, our boutique will be gifting “Thinking of You” gift baskets to women currently going through chemotherapy at —. We hope our baskets can provide a little support, encouragement, and joy to these incredible women as they go through this difficult journey. Lastly, Bonday will be sponsoring a free breast cancer screening for women without insurance in the DMV. This is a great opportunity for those without insurance to get checked and take charge of their health. The screening will take place on October 30th at — from 8:30 am to 9:30 am
